Your Ceremony

Your story. Your choices. Your ceremony.

There is no single way a wedding ceremony has to look.

It can be warm, funny, emotional, traditional, unconventional, quietly meaningful or completely unexpected.

What matters is that it feels like you.

Together, we’ll build a ceremony around your personalities, your values, your story and the promises you want to make to each other — with the freedom to include the traditions you love, leave out the ones you don’t, and explore ideas that make the ceremony genuinely yours.

A humanist ceremony gives us a lot of freedom.

Some couples want something beautifully simple. Others want to involve family and friends, revive an old tradition, invent a new one, or include something nobody else in the room has ever seen at a wedding before.

There’s no checklist you have to work through. We choose the things that add meaning to your ceremony

A collection of decorative ribbons in green, cream, gold, and beige with floral embroidery and intricate designs, arranged on a plate with surrounding greenery and small white flowers.

Your love story

How you met, what happened next, the ups and downs, the adventures and the little moments.

Handfasting

Tying a knot to symbolize the commitment you’re making to each other.

Readings, poetry, and/or music

Chosen because they’re meaningful to you.

Ring warming

Loved ones take turns to hold your rings and symbolically add their wishes before the exchange.

Personal Vows

Written by you, created with my help, kept secret until the day, or made together.

Involve family

Friends, children, parents, grandparents, pets, or whoever is special to you.

Symbolic acts

Lighting candles, jumping brooms or any other act that symbolises your journey and union.

Remembrance

Remember a loved one in a sensitive way that feels right for you.

Ring exchange

Traditional words, totally personal, or something somewhere in between.

Something else

If you have an idea that’s not on the list, let’s talk about how we can make it happen.

Certificate

A commemorative certificate to sign during the ceremony as a keepsake reminder of your day.

Nothing earns its place in your ceremony simply because it’s traditional.

It earns its place because it means something to you!

How we create it together

A completely personal ceremony doesn’t appear out of thin air.

It comes from conversations, stories, ideas, questions, a little bit of digging — and plenty of listening.

Here’s what happens between that first message and the moment you’re standing together on your wedding day.

Say hello

Send me a message and tell me a little about yourselves, your wedding date if you know it, and how you’d prefer me to contact you.

I’ll come back to you for a quick, informal chat so we can establish the basics and arrange a time to meet.

The vibe check

Then we meet properly.

Usually somewhere relaxed, like a coffee shop — and the coffee is on me. Or we can make our first meeting online if that makes you more comfortable.

We’ll talk about the two of you, what you’re planning, what you definitely want, what you definitely don’t want, and any ideas already bouncing around in your heads.

There’s no hard sell.

It’s simply our chance to find out whether I’m the right celebrant for you — and whether you feel comfortable trusting me with your story.

If we’re a good fit, your booking payment secures the date.

Tell me your story

Next, I’ll send you a questionnaire.

This gives me the broad picture: how you met, your relationship, the people who matter to you, the things that make you laugh, the experiences that shaped you and what marriage means to you.

You don’t need to write an autobiography.

It simply gives us somewhere to begin.

Let’s build your ceremony

Closer to the wedding, we’ll meet again and really get into the detail.

This is where we decide what your ceremony will actually contain.

Your story. Your vows. Rings. Readings. Music. Handfasting. Ring warming. Family involvement. Moments of remembrance. Something completely different.

Or none of those.

We keep what means something to you and leave out what doesn’t.

I turn it into a ceremony

Once we’ve done the planning, I take everything you’ve given me and start writing.

Not by filling your names into a template.

I write your ceremony around your voices, your personalities and your story.

The aim is that when you read it, you recognise yourselves in it.

We get it right together

I’ll send you the ceremony to review.

You can tell me what you love, what you want changed, what needs more of you in it — or what needs taking out completely.

Then we refine it together.

It isn’t finished because I say it’s finished. It’s finished when you’re happy that it feels like yours.

I talk to the other people who need to know

As the day approaches, I can liaise with your venue and the people involved in making the ceremony happen — your photographer, musicians, DJ or other suppliers where needed.

We make sure everyone understands the plan, the timings and any important moments they need to be ready for.

You shouldn’t have to spend your wedding morning coordinating everybody yourself.

Wedding Day!

By this point, the ceremony is written, the details are agreed and everyone who needs to know what’s happening knows what’s happening.

So there’s only one thing left to do.

You get married.

And I get the privilege of standing in front of the people who matter most to you and telling your story.
