A humanist wedding ceremony built around you — your story, your personalities, your values, and the people who matter most. No copy-and-paste script. No pretending to be someone you’re not. Just a ceremony that feels genuinely you!
Your Wedding!
Your story!
Your ceremony!
Your way!
What makes it yours?
Built Around You
Your ceremony starts with who you are — not with a template you’re expected to fit into.
Personal & Humanist
Warm, meaningful and completely personal, without religious requirements or rules about what your wedding should be.
Written From Your Story
Your personalities, experiences, humour, values and the people who matter to you all help shape the ceremony.
I’m the person behind Ridgway Ceremonies. I believe a wedding ceremony should sound like the people getting married — not like something pulled from a template.
My job is to listen, get to know you, understand what matters to you, and turn your story into a ceremony that feels warm, meaningful and genuinely yours.
Hi, I’m David.
What is a humanist wedding?
A humanist wedding puts the two of you at the heart of the ceremony. It isn’t built around a prescribed script, religious tradition or a list of things you’re expected to include.
Instead, we create something around your story, your values, your personalities and the people who matter to you. It can be warm, funny, moving, traditional, unconventional — or a mixture of all of them.
The aim isn’t to make your wedding different for the sake of being different. It’s to make it feel authentically yours.
From first chat to your ceremony
1. Say hello
Get in touch and tell me how you’d prefer to be contacted. I’ll come back to you for a quick, informal chat and we can take it from there.
2. The vibe check
Let’s meet face-to-face somewhere you feel comfortable — coffee is on me. We’ll talk about your wedding, your ideas, your hopes and what really matters to you. There’s no obligation; it’s simply a chance to see whether I’m the right celebrant for you, and for me to make sure I can genuinely give you the ceremony you’re looking for.
If we’re a good fit, you secure the wedding date in my diary.
3. Tell me your story
I’ll send you a questionnaire to give me the broad picture — your story, the people who matter to you and the kind of ceremony you imagine.
Closer to the wedding we’ll meet again, go through everything in much more detail and decide exactly what you’d like your ceremony to include — rings, handfasting, ring warming, candle lighting, a commemorative certificate, readings, or something completely different.
4. We create it together
I’ll write your ceremony from everything we’ve discussed and send it to you to review. You can request changes, we can talk through ideas, and I’ll keep refining it until you’re happy that it sounds and feels like your ceremony.
Behind the scenes, I’ll also liaise with your venue, photographer, musicians, DJ and anyone else involved so the ceremony fits smoothly into the day.
5. Your day
With the ceremony agreed, everyone coordinated and the final balance settled, all that’s left is the reason we did all of this in the first place.
You get married.
And I get the privilege of telling your story.
Let’s chat!
Thinking about your ceremony? Tell me a little about yourselves and your plans, and let me know how you’d prefer me to contact you. I’ll get back to you for a quick, informal chat.
